Uisneach Inn, Killare, Co Westmeath – Bealtaine, May 4/5 2013

THE FESTIVAL IS HERE!

Today is the day and tonight is the night! Festival of the Fires 2011 is finally here. We hope all who attend will have a Bealtaine experience they will never forget.

Uisneach is a very important place in terms of heritage, natural beauty, faith and culture and we urge you to please respect the hill during your visit. We also ask you to leave no trace and enjoy the natural surroundings in an eco-friendly and responsible, respectful manner. Simple steps like cleaning up after you and other gestures of respect for the land and natural environment are greatly appreciated.

The Hill of Uisneach is also a working farm so please be aware of fencing (some of which is electric), and close any gates after you. Watch out for other agricultural equipment on site and be also aware of hoof imprints and other traces left behind by cattle.

The annual Bealtaine celebration that is Festival of the Fires is staged out in a way that is as sensitive as possible to the hill and we hope all festival goers will enjoy this heritage, cultural and arts event and leave no trace afterwards.

Gates open today at 12 noon, and there will be a limited number of tickets on sale at the gate, priced €40.

Tickets go off sale from Ticketmaster at 10am today.

Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates during the day and enjoy the festival!

Why was there a piramid with an eye over the monument? What was the idea of having that at a pagan festival and who put it there
